CHARLES CARPENTER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER
Troy, OH – January 21, 2025- Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (HIWT) has announced the promotion of Charles Carpenter to Vice President/General Manager, effective January 6, 2025.
Charles (Charlie) began his welding career in 2000 at his father's company, Carpenter’s Welding, and later graduated from Hobart Institute's Combination Structural and Pipe Welding Program in 2009. After graduating from the program with high honors and perfect attendance, he joined the Institute as a skill welding instructor. He quickly advanced through the ranks to become the Second Shift Supervisor, then the Director of Skill Education, and ultimately the Director of Education. In this last role, Charlie oversaw all educational offerings including our welding programs, technical courses, and corporate training. He has also been the primary driver in advancing the HIWT curriculum and programs, resulting in several new electives and the Pathway Welding Program, which provides students with an opportunity to participate in advanced-level courses aligned with their desired careers. Charlie holds multiple certifications including Certified Higher Education Professional in Leadership, ACCSC Certified Accreditation Professional, AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Welding Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Educator, and NAS410/SNT-TC-1A Level II Radiographer.
In his new role as Vice President/General Manager, Charlie will serve as an officer of the Corporation and will be involved in all aspects of the Institute’s operations and educational resources. Charlie will lead the development and implementation of strategies as they align with the mission of the Institute, provide oversight to achieve financial objectives, and continue to drive employee retention. Charlie will also participate in industry committees and foster relationships with our industry partners.
